At Kunal Yoga School, our comprehensive training provides a solid foundation in Hatha Yoga, traditional yoga, and Iyengar-style asanas to ensure students gain a deep understanding of fundamental postures. You’ll learn essential sequences such as sun salutations, standing poses, and the structure of a well-rounded Hatha yoga class.
The course places strong emphasis on the art of teaching, guiding students through creating a welcoming space, introducing a class, and confidently leading sun salutations and other key sequences. You will develop skills in instructing and adjusting a variety of poses—including standing, seated, twisting, backbending, inversions, and restorative asanas—while learning clear, safe verbal cues and hands-on adjustments.
Central to our training are the four key teaching tools every yoga instructor needs to master:
How to demonstrate asanas effectively
How to give clear instructions
How to offer safe and supportive adjustments
How to observe and respond during teaching
Students engage in paired, group, and whole-class teaching practices, receiving personalized feedback to help cultivate their unique teaching style.
Our training provides a comprehensive study of the biomechanics of the body, focusing on how joints move and function during asana practice. We cover an in-depth foundation of the skeletal and muscular systems, alongside essential knowledge of the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. This anatomical understanding helps students practice and teach yoga safely and effectively.
The course offers an introduction to the rich history and philosophy of yoga. We explore the four primary paths of yoga as described in the Bhagavad Gita:
Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion)
Karma Yoga (the path of selfless action)
Raja Yoga (the path of meditation and control)
Jnana Yoga (the path of wisdom and knowledge)
We also delve into the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga Yoga) outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, providing a practical framework for living a yogic life.
Students will gain an understanding of the subtle body concepts, including nadis (energy channels), chakras (energy centers), and the five koshas (sheaths of the self, known as Panchakosha).
Additionally, the course explores the three gunas—the fundamental qualities of nature in yogic philosophy—and how they influence our mind and behavior.
The training includes the second half of the Ashtanga Primary Series and some advanced postures. Students learn detailed hands-on adjustments and how to use props effectively.
The teaching component shifts focus to preparing for teaching. This includes ethics, business skills, and how to create yoga sequences. Students also begin exam preparation.
Our syllabus covers a wide range of important topics to support your growth as a confident yoga teacher.
To confirm your spot in the training, we kindly request a $200 USD deposit in advance. This fee helps us prepare for your arrival and reserve your place. Please note that it is non-refundable.
